Located just west of Toronto, the farm is perfect for day trips from the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton and other communities in Southern Ontario.

About Terre Bleu Lavender Farm

Terre Bleu is a family-run agritourism farm in Milton, Ontario that includes an organic lavender plantation, apiary, stables and more.

Owners Ian and Isabelle Baird were busy professionals living in Toronto when they decided to purchase the farm and move to the country with their two children. Inspired by the lavender fields they saw on a family trip to Quebec, the two began learning about lavender farming in order to turn their dream into a reality.

The farm grows eight different varieties of lavender on multiple fields (two of which have public access) that have different bloom and harvest times. In 2014, the farm began opening its doors to visitors during the summer months to share the beauty of the flower fields and the importance of sustainable and organic farming. In 2019, Blue Earth opened a second farm nearby, opening the sunflower fields to visitors.

Things to do at Terre Bleu Lavender Farm

Blue Earth usually hosts a number of organised events, including educational guided tours of the farm, apiary and lavender distillery. However, due to health restrictions in the provinces, tours have been temporarily suspended and replaced with self-guided interactive maps. So plan to explore at your own pace and spend a pleasant afternoon strolling the paths of the flower fields, enjoying the sweet scents and trying to capture the beautiful scenery in your photos.

The main farm - the lavender fields

The main attraction of Terre Bleu is strolling through the lavender fields, breathing in the fragrance and admiring the flowers. The first field open to the public is located near the main entrance, where you can take lovely photos with the barn in the background. You'll also find the area's horse and riding stables and gazebo, a cosy spot to relax and escape the sun for a few minutes.

A short walk along the Yellow Bench Trail through the cedar forest will take you to the second lavender field, which is home to the famous Yellow Door art installation. The Yellow Door is the most famous art installation at Blue Earth Lavender Farm and provides a great backdrop for photos in the lavender fields. The door symbolises a philosophy of leaving your worries behind and truly experiencing the wonders of the world around you.

Shopping at Terre Bleu Lavender Farm

At the entrance to the main farm is a lovely shop selling a range of lavender products produced on the farm, including lavender scented sachets, lavender room sprays, lavender honey, lavender crisps and more. This is a great place to find a lovely gift for someone special or for yourself!
