The Tiki Portable has easy-to-follow instructions and takes about five minutes to put together using the included hardware. It's a rectangular fire pit, but it performs just as well as a cylindrical one, offering a four-foot heat radius and the longest burn time (40 minutes) of any fire pit we tested. Because of its width, it's easy to reach out and light the fire, and produces a good, low-smoke flame. At 41 pounds, it's too heavy for a "portable" fire pit, but its handle makes it easy to move around.

The Tiki Portable has a removable ashtray, and the interior simply requires a quick swipe between uses to knock ash into the ashtray. You simply grab the handle and pull the tray out of the unit without moving the fire pit. It comes with a weatherproof canvas cover, but that doesn't mean it should be left out for long.

The fire pit also comes with a bag of Tiki brand wood pellets; it's easy to light a ½ hour campfire by simply lighting the bag. This fire pit uses both hardwood and wood pellets as fuel and works equally well. Both options burned well, but the wood pellets felt like they produced more heat from a distance, even though they didn't burn as long as the hardwood. However, it's easy to add another log or two to the fire after the wood pellets have gone out. Tiki Fire Pit

The Tiki Fire Pit is a great-looking, well-made smokeless fire pit. It has a stainless steel burn chamber and powder-coated steel exterior. It does come with a weatherproof canvas cover, however, the fire pit is not meant to be left outside for long periods. At a weight of 43 pounds, it can be a bit cumbersome to move around when necessary. The fire pit comes with a bag of Tiki brand wood pellets and a special cone insert for the perfect wood pellet fire. You can easily light a ½ hour campfire by simply lighting the bag.

The Tiki Fire Pit has easy-to-follow instructions and takes about five minutes to assemble using the included hardware. While it offers a four-foot heat radius, it has the lowest outside surface temperature of all other smokeless fire pits we've tested (under 160°F), making it safer to be around.

Similar to the portable version, the Tiki Fire Pit comes with a wooden-handled removable ashtray that can be pulled right out of the unit, eliminating the need to move the fire pit at all. This makes cleanup a breeze.

Because its combustion chamber is so shallow (only 7.5 inches deep), standard 16-inch split logs usually pile up above the rim and produce too much smoke. This is frustrating because it happens every time I add additional wood, thus limiting my control over the fire. For the size of the unit, you would expect a deeper combustion chamber. However, this fire pit works very well with the supplied wood pellets to produce a nice, warm, smokeless fire. Simply wait for the hot coals to burn to roast perfect marshmallows. We highly recommend the Tiki Fire Pit as the best fire pit if you plan to use primarily wood pellets as fuel.
